Picture
Hudson, NY, March 1, 2021 – Al Bellenchia has been named Executive Director/CEO of Columbia County Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH), effective today.

Chris Kersten, President of the Habitat Board, said: “We are pleased to have Al taking on this critical leadership role at Columbia County Habitat for Humanity, succeeding Brenda Adams, who is retiring after 13 years. We have houses ready for families to be selected and new construction locations in the pipeline.”

He added: “Al is a welcome addition, a New York City transplant along with his family, who brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and commitment to service and community building.

He most recently served for five years as Executive Director at The Abode, a retreat and spiritual center located in an historic 19th century Shaker Village located in New Lebanon.”

Mr. Bellenchia stated: “It is an exciting challenge and honor to be stepping into the work of Columbia County Habitat for Humanity, an organization known for the commitment and dedication of its volunteer and professional staff. Habitat is a marvelous community organization nurtured and developed by Brenda, who leaves us with an array of new housing to fill and develop.”

Mr. Bellenchia is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He brought his talents and expertise to many companies, large and small, during his career, including: AT&T, CDPHP, DuPont, Gettysburg Flag Works, and MVP Health Care. His community service locally includes: Chair of the Business Education Committee of the Capitol Region Chamber of Commerce; Trustee of the Friends of Lindenwald, the United States Park Service home of President Martin Van Buren; and founding member and Board of Tri-Village Rotary Club in Kinderhook.
